The 7th DAY PESAKH ECOLOGY SEDER celebrates another traditional Pesakh theme, the rebirth of life in spring. The ecological message of this holiday is even more important now than ever before. We commit ourselves to protect and perfect the Creator's Universe, in order to preserve the marvelous diversity of life on Planet Earth. The wine, matzah, and other symbols parallel the First Night Pesakh Seder. The music and readings use American folk music themes, as well as traditional material from Psalms and Shir haShirim (Song of Songs)

This celebration was originally developed by KEHILLAT MISHPAKHOT (K-M), "Community of Families" in Hebrew, and held at Temple Israel of Upper Darby. K-M was a group of people who related to each other in a hands-on, cooperative friendship circle. Members of K-M practiced integrating work life, home life, spiritual life, and child rearing into a more satisfying pattern; in balance with the resources of Planet Earth and the other life forms that share this world with us. Kehillat Mishpakhot events were open to all. Events were co-operative, so participants assisted in either preparation or clean-up. Costs were shared. The legacy of K-M are two ecology celebrations, which we see as a way of making sustainability a key part of our lives. Sustainable Society Action Project, Inc. (SSAP) has undertaken to preserve this legacy, through sponsoring the Seder.
